Who are we?

The Allyship Archive is a project created and launched by the non-profit Athlete Ally. Both share the goal of doing influential research and advocating for the LGBTQI+ community.

Our Story

Hudson Taylor was an All-American wrestler who wanted to confront the marginalization of LGBTQ people in sport. He decided to wear an LGBTQ equality sticker on his headgear. Though he encountered criticism, he inspired the nation.

This experience led Hudson to launch Athlete Ally.

Our Mission

Our mission is to end the rampant homophobia and transphobia in sport and to activate the athletic community to exercise their leadership to champion LGBTQI+ equality.

Our Victories

  • Successfully ​​lobbied to include sexual orientation in the Olympic Charter.

  • Co-authored the NCAA’s policy and resource guide on LGBTQ issues.

  • Launched the Athletic Equality Index: a ranking of the LGBTQ inclusiveness of collegiate athletic departments
